What is Installation Guide for
This document describes the installation procedure of ROBUSKEY. If you are very new to ROBUSKEY, or if you have any difficulties on using it, please refer to this document.
What is ROBUSKEY?
ROBUSKEY® is a plugin software which uses a chroma key algorithm(†1) developed proprietarily by ISP that is specifically matched to people's hair characteristics and skin tone.
Creates matte images that are perfect for natural‐looking image synthesis without the time or trouble, and expands your creative imagination.
(†1) With green backgrounds, high-precision chroma keying is affected by specific yellow color regions. Please refer to Operation Guide for detail.
How to Install ROBUSKEY for EDIUS
ROBUSKEY for EDIUS is a chromakey plugin which runs on EDIUS.
To install ROBUSKEY, please follow the steps below.How to Install Plugin
Here describes how to install ROBUSKEY plugin. The following procedure must be done with administrative privileges.
- Exit Host Application
- Run License Manager
- Run Installer
- Check Installation Status
If EDIUS was running, exit them.
Run ROBUSKEY License Manager. Check your authentication status at 'Installation / activation status' textarea.
Click 'Install' button.
When installation procedure finishes successfully, a message shown below appears.
Press 'Browse...' button to specify where to be installed and specify executable file which to be installed.
Run host application and check if ROBUSKEY plugin is listed.
ROBUSKEY will be listed on 'Video Filters' window shown below.
Check Plugin File
If ROBUSKEY plugin is not shown on EDIUS, please check if ROBUSKEY plugin files are properly copied.
By default, paths of plugin folder are shown below. For users specified another folder on installation, please substitute it.| Host Application | File Path |

How to Activate ROBUSKEY
After installing ROBUSKEY, please activate it within 30 days. Otherwise, ROBUSKEY will not work.
Users can install/activate ROBUSKEY upto 2 computers.
- Exit Host Application
- Run Activation
If EDIUS was running, exit them.
Make sure that your computer is online.
Run 'ROBUSKEY License Manager'. Type product serial number and click 'Activation' button.
Message when Activation is Succeeded
Message when Activation is Failed
When you failed on activation, please check product serial number and retry.
How to Offline-Activation
Activation can be done when you are offline.
Contact ROBUSKEY Support Desk for issurance of activation key. Client ID and Product Serial Number must be attached. Please refer to ROBUSKEY License Manager for Client ID.
- Exit Host Application
- Run Activation
If EDIUS was running, exit them.
Run 'ROBUSKEY License Manager'. Type product serial number.
Check 'Make an activation offline' checkbox on, enter activation key which ROBUSKEY Support Desk issued and press 'Activation' button.
How to Deactivate ROBUSKEY
Deactivation is needed for transferring license.
- Exit Host Application
- Run Deactivation
If EDIUS was running, exit them.
Run 'ROBUSKEY License Manager'. Press 'Deactivate' button.
Message when Deactivation is Succeeded
Message when Deactivation is Failed
How to Uninstall ROBUSKEY
Deletes all the ROBUSKEY plugin file and deactivates.
- Exit Host Application
- Delete Plugin Files
- Check Uninstallation
If EDIUS was running, exit them.
Run 'ROBUSKEY License Manager'. Press 'Uninstall' button.
† When you uninstall on Macintosh, username and password will be required. Please enter them which has administrative privileges.
Run host application and check if ROBUSKEY plugin is not listed.
Troubleshooting
- Q: On installation procedure, I got a message 'Failed on copying plugin files.'
- A: Please check if ...:
- you have specified EDIUS properly.
- your EDIUS is not running.
- you have administrative privileges.
- Q: I installed ROBUSKEY, but it's not listed on EDIUS.
- A: The installation may not successfully finished. Please retry 'How to Install Plugin'. Refer to 'Check Plugin File' and confirm that plugin files are copied properly.
- Q: ROBUSKEY does not work on EDIUS. I got a message 'ROBUSKEY license is invalid.'
- A: If you would like to use ROBUSKEY for more than 30 days from installation, you are required to activate ROBUSKEY. Please refer to 'How to Activate ROBUSKEY' and follow the activation procedure.

No doubt, even the EDIUS chromakey effect will deliver good results if there were optimal conditions at the shoot. But in reality most of the shoots including green or blue screen are not performed under ideal conditions.
You will only get to know a chromakey's quality if you have footage that was not produced under best conditions or if you have very complex motifs which contain transparency and reflections. Since in reality often there is less time and space to set up a perfect light for a blue or green screen you will have to deal with the mentioned difficulties in your footage.
But due to the background color even the perfect light many times can't avoid blue or green outlines being visible at a person's hair or head. Additionally there can be problems with light reflections in a person's glasses and color changes if the key colors shine too bright.
'We'll fix it in the post' does not always work out in such cases. Although the EDIUS chromakey does good work - in real-time - it can not be the solution to very complex keying problems.
Furthermore the EDIUS chromakey has some technical limitations. Unlike a color correction filter, the chromakey affects the alpha channel of a clip and therefore cannot be combined with other filters or effects.
With Robuskey there are no such limitations and you will have a lot more options to edit your footage. Robuskey works as a filter/effect and therefore can be adjusted individually. This way it is possible to apply a primary or secondary color correction on the footage without affecting the actual keying result.

Unfortunately this quality cannot be achieved in real-time. But since Robuskey is accelerated through a CUDA optimized graphic board (Nvidia Quadro oder GTX) only less time is needed for rendering. Your reseller will advise you which graphic board is the best for your purposes.
